Welcome to Arundel!
Arguably the prettiest town in West Sussex, Arundel is a varied and wonderful town to visit and to linger for a while. An irresistible town located on the steep west side of the Arun Valley as it drops to the river.
High on the chalk ridge you will find a vast fairy-tale castle: Arundel Castle, home to the dukes of Norfolk for nearly 1,000 years, and a Gothic Revival cathedral that could have been teleported here from northern France.
Arundel has lots of gorgeous Georgian and Victorian period houses, and is a real find for art lovers, with many galleries and studios.
The town hosts some thriving annual events, such as the Corpus Christi or Flower Festival in June and the Arts Festival in August. And every 3rd Saturday of the month the town’s square is packed with stalls full of local suppliers offering their best produce during the monthly Farmer’s market.
The town is on the cusp of the South Downs National Park. Walking the famous South Downs trail, Arundel is just a 10min diversion by car or a brisk one hour walk.
A ten-minute drive from the hotel will take you to Amberley Museum. Once the site of a working chalk quarry, the museum is dedicated to preserving the industrial heritage of the South East.
And what about the Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre, which is only a ten-minute drive away or a brisk 30min walk. The area is home to over 50 wildfowl species, offers free boat rides and a magnificent reedbed boardwalk.
We are only a 20-minute drive from the Goodwood Estate which is famous for its annual events including the Festival of Speed and Qatar Goodwood Festival or Glorious Goodwood in July and the Goodwood Revival in September. What an excitement! We promise you our House Arundel will be your wonderful base if you are planning of visiting.
And when the sun is out you might want to head to the beach. Some of those close by include Littlehampton, Climbing, Bognor Regis and the Witterings. Or perhaps you prefer the seaside city of Brighton with its many shops and entertainment pier.
You see, there is lots to do, but do not worry, we will not judge you for doing absolutely nothing.
See you soon?
